SELECTED DISTRICT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 

 

 

Three major construction projects –

     All under budget and on time

 

Ø      1998-9  $6.2 Million renovation project

Ø      New high school boilers – Energy Performance Contract with Johnson Controls & State approved.

                  Boilers paid for by energy savings

Ø      Roof replacements – Cottle/TMS/THS

 

Replaced lighting in middle/high school gym – Grant from Senator Jeff Klein.

 

Prepared for and passed a $13.6 Million bond project for expansion and upgrades.

 

Installed playground at Cottle field – Parents’ donations and Generoso Pope Foundation.

 

Established a highly successful Tuckahoe School Foundation.

 

Initiated an international Curriculum Audit through Phi Delta Kappa resulting in:

 

Ø      Multi-Cultural  Change Committee

Ø      Curriculum Review Committees

·         ELA  K-12

·         Math

·         Data Analysis

·         School level Project Teams – ELA/Math

 

 

Initiated Board of Education legislative lobbying to increase State building aid.

 

Obtained $149,000 in grants to fund programs and initiatives; $400,000 in grants are pending.

 

 

 

 

 

Created partnerships with neighboring districts to improve and expand student services and programs in a cost efficient manner –

Actively engaged in revenue producing initiatives through negotiated and planned use of buildings –

 

·         Challenge Camp

·         Westchester Community College

·         College of Saint Rose (C.I.T.E.)

·         Pouring rights contract with Coca Cola

·         Negotiated guaranteed contract with Aramark for food services ($25,000 per year).

·         Aggressive Medicaid reimbursement

 

 

Reduced Costs

 

Ø      Contract buying – saving over $55,000 in materials & supplies.

Ø      Telephone service through BOCES - $10,000 per year.

Ø      B.E.P.T. Transportation Consortium –

  conservatively: $153,000 per year
