Tuckahoe Union Free School District is pleased to provide an opportunity for Tuckahoe families to enter a lottery for our Universal Pre-Kindergarten program (UPK). For the 2021-22 school year, we are partnering with a Tuckahoe based early childhood agency, Cornerstone Children’s Center, to provide the program. The Pre-K program will be daily, every weekday, for five instructional hours each day. Hours will be from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Eligible children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2021. This is a free program for Tuckahoe residents who win the lottery. Transportation is not provided.
Selection for this program was capped at 39 full day students, based on state and federal funding, and was done by a random lottery. Random selection is required by NYS. Applications were assigned a number for the lottery. Once the first 39 applications have been selected, each subsequent application pulled was put on a waiting list, in order of their draw from the lottery. The drawing was held on Friday, September 10th at 4:00 PM. (Please note, families who are not selected at the drawing will be put on a waiting list and will be notified if a seat becomes available.)
