HOW WE COMMUNICATE: PARENTS

The Tuckahoe Union Free School District has embarked on several paperless initiatives in order to improve communications, convenience and budgetary impact. These include:

  •  eChalk

eChalk is the content management system that houses the district and school websites, as well as our teacher websites. It features live calendars and content including up-to-date news and announcements as well as useful student and parent resources for curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

Please note that our district website and related publications are restricted to information regarding district activities/events information only.

  •  PowerSchool

Tuckahoe Union Free School District uses PowerSchool as its secure, online student management system. The parent portal of PowerSchool provides parents/guardians with access to grades, attendance, progress notes and more. This feature is currently utilized at the middle and high school levels only.

  •  Blackboard Connect Notification System

Blackboard Connect is a mass notification system that allows administrators to reach parents/guardians and staff via telephone and email alerts regarding important matters. In urgent situations, the district can quickly send accurate notifications and updates, helping to prevent the spread of misinformation, streamline efforts and keep students safe.

NOTE: Blackboard Connect is currently a service for parents/guardians and district employees only. If your contact information changes and you do not update it, you may not receive notices. To update your contact information, please complete the  Blackboard Connect Update form and contact the main office of your child’s school.

mySchoolBucks is an electronic point-of-sale system. It allows parents/guardians in all three schools to see information and pre-pay for their child’s school meals by placing money in a secure account on a recurring or as need basis. If you have multiple children, you can make multiple deposits for each child during your transaction. The deposit amount can be placed against a credit card, debit card or checking account. For questions, please contact the main office of your child’s school.

  •  BoardDocs

BoardDocs is an internet-based solution that makes Board of Education meeting agendas, supporting documents, meeting minutes and the Board policy manual available through the Internet. This allows for quicker and more efficient distribution of documents associated with board meetings, at a dramatically reduced cost to the district. It also enables increased transparency and communication with the public as well as access to best practices from other districts that are using the system.

These features can be accessed via the Board of Education tab on the district’s website at  or BoardDocs.

  •  Social Media

TUFSD uses Facebook and Twitter to communicate out the positive activities, events, student work and lessons happening in our district. These tools allow us to offer the community a glimpse at the learning taking place inside our school buildings every day. Follow the district on Facebook or on twitter: @tuckahoeufsd

Other resources:

  • Board of Education meetings and other important events are live streamed through an icon on the district website homepage for instantaneous viewing of the events.
  • The district also features Board of Education meetings and other important events on Cable TV Channel 77 and Verizon Fios 27, both live and re-broadcasted.

Please note that emergency closings or delays will be communicated on the district website, as well as via Blackboard Connect. The notices are also broadcast on Cable TV Channel 77 and Verizon Fios 27.

It is incumbent upon the parent/guardian user to manage and operate his/her computer or handheld device, Web, email access, and basic Web functionality, including maintaining current versions of standard Web software, i.e. Adobe® Reader. Otherwise, limited or no access to information is possible.
