Author Steve Sheinkin Visits TMS 7th & 8th Graders

Author Steve Sheinkin visited Tuckahoe Middle School 7th and 8th graders on February 11, 2019, to share his experiences as a writer, as well as his passion for historical fiction and nonfiction. In presentations focused on his award-winning nonfiction book Bomb: The Race to Build-and Steal-the World's Most Dangerous Weapon and the biography The Notorious Benedict Arnold, he described his research and writing processes in the creation of narrative non-fiction books related to historical events. The assemblies provided an opportunity for students to ask questions about his writing and career as well as his subject matter and literary perspective.

In preparation for the visit, students read and analyzed excerpts from his books related to historical events in their Social Studies curriculum, listened to chapter talks and explored historical perspectives. The Tuckahoe Middle School/High School Library Media Center, in collaboration with the middle school English and History departments, sponsored Mr. Sheinkin’s visit.
