Tuckahoe Union Free School District is pleased to provide an opportunity for Tuckahoe families to enter a lottery for our Universal Pre-Kindergarten program (UPK). We are currently finalizing our partnership arrangements for this program. Rest assured, we will share detailed information about our community partner shortly. Our commitment is to provide a high-quality, enriching program for your children.
The program will run five days per week from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will follow the school district calendar. Eligible children must be four years old by December 1, 2024. Transportation is not provided.
- Presentations and tours will be scheduled in Mid-January.
- Applications will be due back on February 2, 2024. Applications can be dropped off in-person or via email.
- Random lottery will take place February 8, 2024. This will be held on-campus and live-streamed, with a scheduled snow date.
- The number of seats for this program will be contingent on state and federal funding.

Applications must be received no later than 2:30 pm Friday, February 2, 2024. Applications may be submitted in one of two ways:

Selection for this program, which will be capped at 36 full-day students based on state and federal funding, is done by a random lottery. Random selection is required by NYS. When an application is submitted, it will be assigned a number for the lottery. Once the first 36 applications have been selected, each subsequent application pulled is put on a waiting list, in order of their draw from the lottery. We will notify families of their initial lottery status by February 12, 2024.
The lottery for the 36 seats will take place both in-person and virtually on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 3:30 PM in the Tuckahoe MS/HS Library (snow date is February 9, 2024). The lottery selection will be live-streamed, and the link will be available on the District website homepage: www.Tuckahoeschools.org. If a family declines the offer or does not register their child, the next student on the waiting list will be offered a place in the program.
